Post-construction cleaning — what to expect — Afrodita Cleaning

After renovation, extension or fitting out a shop or office, the space can look almost ready — yet construction dust, adhesive traces, protective film and small debris still get in the way of move-in or opening. Professional post-construction cleaning is not “ordinary wiping”; it is the final handover step.

Why this differs from regular maintenance

Construction dust settles in joints, vents, sockets, tracks and textiles. Routine maintenance will not remove it in one pass. That is why the work is planned in phases, with equipment suited to coarse and fine cleaning.

A typical flow:

1. coarse removal of waste and protective materials (if not already handled on site)
2. vacuuming and dust removal from floors, walls, joinery and installations
3. washing and polishing hard surfaces
4. cleaning glass, mirrors and light fittings
5. a final pass before handover or opening

When to book cleaning

Align timing with the contractor: after wet works and installation are finished, and before furniture or stock move in — or in agreed stages if the space fills gradually (e.g. retail during fit-out).

Send photos of the current state, floor area, floor types and the handover deadline. That makes it easier to estimate visits and equipment (machine scrubbing, fine-dust vacuuming, removers for silicone and adhesive residue).

What you can prepare

- ensure power and water
- arrange access and parking for equipment
- mark zones that are not finished yet (wet works, painting)
- coordinate which trade works which day

On larger sites it is often better to plan two passes than force everything into one day while works are still ongoing.

The goal is a usable space: without visible construction dust, with tidy floors and glass, ready for move-in, inventory or opening.
